In short

Ta Prohm is the Angkor temple deliberately left partly unrestored, so the silk-cotton and strangler fig roots that grew through its galleries are still holding the stone apart. Built by Jayavarman VII in the late 12th century as a Buddhist monastery and university, it is the most atmospheric site in the park and by far the most photographed after Angkor Wat.
