Chi Phat is where Cambodian community ecotourism grew up. Former loggers and hunters now work as guides, cooks and hosts, and a share of every booking goes to the community fund.
What a stay looks like
Homestays are family houses in the village; there are also small community guesthouses. Evenings are quiet and early. Most guests use the village as a base for a day trek or an overnight camp in the forest.
Good to know
Book treks a day ahead through the community office. Bring leech socks in the wet season, cash, and a head torch.

Is it suitable for beginners?
Yes. Half-day walks and the river trip are easy; the multi-day treks are for fit walkers.
When is the best season?
November to May is driest. In the rains the forest is at its best but the trails are muddy and leeches are out.
