Mondulkiri is rolling grassland and forest, very different from the plains. Its Bunong villages combine rice and cash crops with a deep attachment to the forest, and several now host guests through community projects.

What a stay looks like

A family house in the village, a day trek with a Bunong guide, and dinner by the fire. Expect simple conditions.

Ask before taking photographs. Community projects set their own rules for visiting spirit forests.

Is it cold?
Nights in the highlands are noticeably cooler, especially from November to February. Bring a warm layer.
What about elephants?
Visit only projects where the elephants are not ridden. We can advise.
