Anyone landing in Siem Reap who has read an older guidebook.
Siem Reap changed airports in 2023. Flights now land at Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport (SAI), about 40 km east of town, a 45 to 60 minute drive. The old airport 8 km from the temples, REP, closed to commercial flights on 15 October 2023 - so any guidebook or blog written before then will send you to the wrong place.

The move caught a lot of people out, and still does. Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport sits in Sotr Nikum district, roughly 40 km east of the town centre, and the drive takes the better part of an hour rather than the ten minutes the old airport took.
Practically, that means two things. Arriving, do not plan anything for the first two hours after you land. Leaving, we will collect you earlier than you expect – and if you have an early flight, it is worth knowing before you book a sunrise at Angkor the same morning.
On our trips the transfer is included and the driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with your name, not in the car park. If you are travelling independently, arrange the transfer before you fly rather than at the kerb.
