Battambang is the part of Cambodia people skip and then wish they had not. I take visitors out to the villages that make rice paper and fish paste and bamboo sticky rice, not as a performance but because that is what happens there on a Tuesday morning. I am happiest on a motorbike on a dirt road with somebody who does not mind getting dusty. I also know which of the colonial shophouses will let you up on the roof.
